About Debby

I grew up left-handed, an only child, and a military brat.  So I have several excuses for not being normal - but who wants to be normal?  Certainly not this creative person.  Fortunately, one of my college professors saw my potential, and he suggested trying my hand at writing.  It took me a while to hit my stride, but since my first sale, I've seen more than 400 short stories and articles in print, 10 books, and 6 novellas that have been in anthologies.  One of my favorite things to do is entertain and inform people through the written word.

I have a degree in Community Recreation (I like to play, so what do you expect?) from the University of Southern Mississippi (Go, Golden Eagles!), with a double minor in English and Psychology.  I went back to school later for middle grades English teaching certification.  I love reading, shopping, crafts, and doing all kinds of things with my family.  My favorite movies are "Shrek," "As Good as it Gets," "Legally Blonde," "Steel Magnolias," and "Miss Congeniality."  I have tons of favorite authors, and many of them are close friends, so I won't even try to name them here.

My husband Wally, a financial advisor, and I have been married almost 28 years.  We have 2 grown daughters, Lauren who just finished her Communications degree at the University of South Florida and Alison who is married to Jason Ingraham. If it weren't for our cats Misty and Felix, we'd surely suffer from empty nest syndrome.
